A Jetstar pilot is facing time behind bars after allegedly assaulting someone.

Grant Johns, 39, of Hadfield, faced Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on Friday where his lawyer attempted to prevent the media from having access to the charges her client is facing.

Grant Johns has been stood down from flying while he contests the charges.

Ophelia Hollway told the court her client has a “high-profile job in the aviation industry” and expressed concern about his personal details being made public.

Hollway said Johns intended to fight the charges and asked that the matter be adjourned and return to court next month.

“It’s being contested,” she said.

Jetstar said it was aware of the charges filed against Johns and that the pilot had been stood down from flying.

Court documents released to this masthead show Johns is accused of recklessly causing injury to a person at Hadfield on April 21, 2024.

The 39-year-old is also separately charged with assaulting the alleged victim on the same date.

The charges were filed with the court on April 8.
