The two victims who died in a residential fire on Gunnison Avenue last Wednesday have been identified by the Mesa County Coroner’s Office.

Linda Cabler, an 86-year-old female, and her daughter Carynne Cabler, a 67-year-old female, perished at their residence on Gunnison Avenue. The cause of death is related to smoke inhalation and thermal injuries received in the fire, according to a Mesa County Coroner’s Office news release.

The Grand Junction Fire Department responded to the residential structure fire in the 1100 block of Gunnison Avenue at 9:46 a.m., April 16, after receiving reports from callers of visible smoke and flames coming from the windows on the home.

Firefighters entered the home and located the two residents who were taken out of the home and given immediate medical treatment, according to a Fire Department release. The patients were transported to a local hospital and later succumbed to the injuries.
