The Brussels-Midi police zone responded to a shooting at around 01:00 on Wednesday in Rue Ruysdael, Anderlecht, the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office reported.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers made contact with the victim, a 19-year-old man, who had a wound to his thigh. He was quickly taken to hospital. His life is not in danger.
A ballistics expert and the federal police laboratory team were called to the scene. According to the information gathered so far, several shots were fired.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the incident, the context in which it occurred and the identity of the perpetrator(s).
The Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office will not make any further comments at this stage, in the interests of the ongoing investigation.
