Gameplay Issues

The author, an experienced racing game player, expresses significant difficulty mastering drifting in DRIFT CE. They've tried various settings (900 and 720 degrees, with and without assists) but find drifting inconsistent and unnatural, especially Scandinavian flicks and clutch-initiated drifts. The force feedback is also criticized as needing improvement, even after inversion. They suspect the game mechanics are better suited to handheld controllers than steering wheels.

Technical Aspects

The player observes that the in-game wheel rotation seems limited compared to their actual wheel's movement, suggesting a discrepancy. They also highlight the lack of clear options for adjusting camber and toe despite the game offering customization of parts like control arms.

Positive Aspects and Suggestions

Despite the issues, the author praises the garage feature as excellent and believes the game has high potential. They request improvements to the driving engine/physics before adding more content, emphasizing the importance of enjoyable gameplay to complement the garage's functionality.

  • Inconsistent drifting mechanics
  • Poor force feedback
  • Limited in-game wheel rotation
  • Lack of camber/toe adjustment options
  • Positive feedback on garage features

It is an early release, can we please have a dump of credits so we can actually test out builds because I have yet to find something that drifts properly and 14k is not enough.

I am using a thrusmaster TS-PC, with a Rally Wheel Manual shifter and a standalone Handbreak. I can drift for days in Asetto Corsa (i do touges all the time online), Project Cars, Dirt 2, Forza 7, but in this game I have yet to find a consistent way of drifting. I have tried 900 degrees settings 720 degrees. The force feedback is quite off, I believe inverting has made it better but still. The most annoying part though is how the drift itself works, skandinavian flicks are almost impossible, initiating a drift with the clutch doesn't feel natural and if I do start the drift with the handbreak as i let the steering wheel place itself its just impossible to lock into place most of the time. You know when you let the wheel go its stabilizes and then you can steer the drift. I tried the assists, without assists and still feel like a total idiot trying to drive this. I somehow feel that this game has been made for hand held controllers and not for steering wheels.

I drive with the cockpit view and to see the wheel turning only 90degrees each way when my wheel is spinning like an olympic skater also feels weirds, make me think that the wheelsingame are not turning as much as they should. I feel like my issue it just a big setup thing because obviously some players have great experiences any help appreciated

Also, I love the fact that you can add different parts like control arms and such, but where do we actually define camber toe and stuff like that?

The only reason for which i kept this game is the garage feature, it's simply an awesome idea that all racing games should offer, and its just AWESOME. Now before other parts and cars and tracks are added, please improve the driving engine/mechanics/physics. Because as much as I love the garage, if i can't drive and earn money I can't tune in the garage so what's the point.

Looking forwards for the outcome of this game. The potential is huuuuuge.
