Learning that her beloved son Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz had enjoyed a cosy celebrity soiree in Montecito with Meghan and Harry, during which the couples reportedly bonded over their shared grievances with their estranged families, must have been a dagger through Victoria Beckhamâs heart.
Already Brooklyn had declined to turn up to even one of his dadâs five 50th birthday parties - a bit excessive, yes, but they are the Beckhams - due to his and Nicâs âworkâ schedules, even though neither of them have proper jobs. Then this.
Worse still, it was Victoria who befriended the then no-mates Meghan when she first came to the UKÂ in 2017, only for her kindness to be seemingly thrown back in her face when it was reported that Meghan wrongly believed that Victoria had been leaking stories to the media. As if a woman with an international fashion empire and a combined wealth with her husband of ÂŁ455million would be flogging stories to the red-tops.
Meghan and Nicola were said to have hit it off during the dinner, as Harry offered Brooklyn âunwavering supportâ owing to their âcommon groundâ: both men are married to older alpha females blamed for causing seismic rifts with their husbandsâ families. Friends of the Sussexes, meanwhile, claimed that Meghan and Harry showed âkindness and warmthâ towards the younger duo.

Meghan badly needs to burnish her PR crown: her popularity, already at a record lows in Britain, is slipping in America
Meghan and Nicola potential besties? Donât make me laugh. Hereâs whatâs really going on.
Meghan badly needs to burnish her PR crown: her popularity, already at a record lows in Britain, is slipping in America. Any story that makes her sound âkindâ and âwarmâ is welcome.
But hereâs a womanly word of advice, Nicola: Meghan will eat you up then spit you out. Sheâll use you for her own media advantage then dump you as she has most of her friends and her family. Just ask her poor, exiled dad Thomas. Or all those members of the Royal family who were traduced in the Sussexâs shameful Netflix series or her endless moaning interviews in what South Park famously lampooned as their âworldwide privacy tourâ.
One day soon, Nicola and Brooklyn - now basking in the glow of Megsâs public but ephemeral approval - will be cast into the shadows.
There are even fears that Brooklyn may be inspired by Harry to write a memoir about his supposedly tortuous nepo-baby life. No worries there, perhaps, as Iâm not sure the witless hot sauce maker knows one end of a pen from another. But if he did, that would be the final cruelty to his wonderful mum Posh.
