It was by far their best performance under Valerien Ismael as they put four goals past the in-form Lions. Dom Hyam, Callum Brittain and a brace from Sondre Tronstad ensured the final 30 minutes were played at a canter with the result wrapped up.
It was the perfect afternoon to build on the gritty win at Luton Town. Whilst it will be too little too late for this year's play-off push, at least Rovers fans have something tangible to believe in after a dominant display.
Here are the key takeaways from a great win at Ewood Park.

Simply the best (or one of them)
None of the starters were less than an 8/10 but there was one clear standout. How Brittain didn't win sponsor's Player of the Match, I am not sure. No offence to Tronstad, who was very good too.
The right-back was a key orchestrator from minute one. He could've had two assists in the first 10 minutes but, somehow, Yuki Ohashi headed wide before Tyrhys Dolan was denied by the goalkeeper.
He was constantly bombing out and producing fantastic quality with his deliveries into the box. It was only a matter of time before one was gobbled up, Hyam the man to thump a header in.
It is quite obvious that Brittain has become one of Rovers' best players. He will probably finish just behind Tronstad and Lewis Travis in the Player of the Year vote which is a sign of his growing importance.
Tying him down has to be a huge priority. Rovers have not yet opened talks with any of the trio who are out of contract in 2026. All three players have indicated, at least publicly, that they would be open to staying at Ewood Park.
Brittain certainly seems to have enjoyed his best football this season. He has the total trust of Ismael and an excellent previous relationship.
Time for Rovers to strike whilst the iron is hot, before the rest of the Championship takes notice...
Quality of goals clear to see
The biggest difference for me was the number of chances that Rovers created. They had barely tested the goalkeeper in previous games but racked up an xG of 1.78 with 17 shots against Millwall, including two long-range strikes.
They entered the final third so many times and were clinical with their finishing. Every goal had something to like, with the first and fourth particular favourites of mine.
The cross and execution of a bullet header was so aesthetically pleasing. Then there's the sheer power yet control of Tronstad's rocket to secure the victory. Brittain's goal was a brilliant sweeping move from left to right, as well.
A clear blueprint for success
From the first minute, Rovers were on the front foot. Aggressive, high octane and full of energy. Ohashi and Dolan led the press from the front and the work rate of every player was noticeable.
Ismael has spoken many times about wanting to play attractive, front-foot football. Talking is one thing, doing is another. After six weeks of working on his methods, it now seems that the key principles are seeping into the players. Everyone was bought in.
Having some players back from injury helps too. Ryan Hedges gives good balance on the left, Danny Batth was rock-solid at the back and we have already spoken about Brittain's influence. It does make a big difference.
It was absolutely vital that Rovers produced a performance of this ilk before the season finished. It could not be allowed to just peter out, leaving fans disillusioned about what they might see on the pitch next term.
All of the previous issues are not suddenly fixed because of one sparkling display but it is something that Ismael, the players and the fans can now point to. That was the standard they're trying to reach and it was bloody fun to watch.
Toth gets the nod
Balazs Toth will retain the gloves after back-to-back victories between the sticks. It makes complete sense for him to see out the season in goal.
We all know Aynsley Pears' strengths and weaknesses. With nothing on the line in terms of league table, there is little more we can learn about the Rovers number one.
It's easy to forget that Blackburn spent around Β£1million on Toth in the summer. Yet he's an unknown quantity having featured three times in the Championship.
Ismael needs to be able to assess his squad and therefore, Toth should remain in goal until the summer. He acquitted himself well against Millwall, making a few key saves. There was no sign of vulnerability from aerial situations after a few nervy moments against Luton.
Tougher tests to come
It's not like Millwall were relegation fodder but Sunderland and Sheffield United will provide tougher tests in the final fortnight. That is not to take away from beating a side who had won nine of their last 15, though.
Rovers should be able to play with freedom and confidence after the last two results. Let's see how far that can take them.
