he Defense Ministry dispatched on Monday 12 tonnes of humanitarian aid including food, tents, blankets and medicine for victims of the powerful earthquake that rocked Myanmar and Thailand last week.

The ministry sent a humanitarian aid task force consisting of 39 individuals from the Coordinating Human Development and Culture Ministry, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) and the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas).

โ€œThe advance team will provide first aid to the victims,โ€ said Deputy Defense Minister Donny Ermawan at Halim Perdana Kusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta, noting that the delivery of humanitarian aid was carried out based on President Prabowo Subiantoโ€™s order.

โ€œLater we will assess how many security teams are needed to provide security to officers carrying out duties in the affected area,โ€ he added.ย

The Hercules aircraft carrying the task force and humanitarian aid will make a stop at Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Force Base in Aceh before flying directly to Naypidaw Airport in Myanmar, Antara reported.
