A light aircraft, possibly a helicopter or gyrocopter, crashed near the Moon Point camping area on the eastern side of K’gari (Fraser Island), Queensland, Australia, shortly after noon on Friday.
One person sustained injuries but remained conscious and alert. A rescue helicopter and paramedic unit were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The crash occurred in a remote area. While Queensland Ambulance initially referred to the aircraft as a helicopter, other reports suggested it might have been a gyrocopter.
An aircraft reported to be a helicopter or gyrocopter has crashed near a camping area on K’gari, formerly known as Fraser Island.
Queensland Ambulance says the light aircraft came down in an isolated area near Moon Point camping area, on the eastern side of the island, just after noon on Friday.
A rescue helicopter and paramedic unit were rushing to the scene on Friday afternoon.
One patient was reportedly injured, but was conscious and alert.
