Today, April 14, is the anniversary of one of the most tragic and transformative events in U.S. history: the assassination of Abraham Lincoln by a crazed Confederate sympathizer who wanted to stop Lincoln from granting black Americans full civil rights. It is an even more sobering reflection to realize that Democrats have been periodically engaging in domestic terrorism ever since they lost the Civil War, and that today, as in the 1860s, more than half of Democrats believe assassinating their political opponents is acceptable and even praiseworthy.

After the bloody Civil War, it was natural that an exhausted nation should long for peace. But what the Republicans and some Unionist Democrats refused to admit was that the Democrat leaders and their supporters who launched and prosecuted the Civil War, committing numerous war crimes along the way, didn’t really want unity and peace. With few exceptions, they wanted to enact their own kind of tyranny without opposition or hindrance, and they have been trying to achieve that goal through domestic terrorism or political corruption ever since.

Just as Democrats have been cheating in elections for nearly two centuries, just so today, as in former eras, they want to assassinate political opponents from Donald Trump on down. Don’t believe me, look at the data.

Last year, two men — one undoubtedly with a track record of anti-Trump, pro-Democrat statements — came very close to assassinating Donald Trump, while Democrats scream non-stop that he’s a Nazi, fascist dictator. The unending stream of vitriol against Trump and his supporters bore fruit in violence, which continues to the present (see anti-Tesla terrorists and the latest would-be Trump assassin Nikita Casap). The party of the KKK marches on, and behold the results of a recent survey:

55 percent of “respondents that self-identified as left of center” said the murder of President Donald Trump would be “at least somewhat justified.”

And Elon Musk? Well, 48 percent of respondents felt the same way if he were to be murdered… 31% and 38% of respondents stated it would be at least somewhat justified to murder Elon Musk and President Trump, respectively.

I personally know individuals who are very kind and generous to their friends and family but have imbibed so much leftist propaganda that they really think it would be a good thing if Trump or members of his administration were killed. Trump Derangement Syndrome is a mental illness, but it is hardly a new phenomenon in the Democrat party.

It is interesting to note that, just as Lincoln hoped on the one hand to ensure civil rights for all Americans, regardless of skin color (his reference to this goal during a speech was what reportedly triggered John Wilkes Booth’s decision to kill him), he also hoped to unify the nation, heal its wounds, and extend malice toward none, but charity for all. With his assassination, that hope died, at least temporarily, and when his racist Democrat vice president Andrew Johnson took over, the latter ensured that he would scotch nearly all of Lincoln‘s plans for assisting former slaves, while also encouraging prosperity for all Americans.

Donald Trump campaigned on a message of unity, of prosperity for all, of bipartisan patriotism. But the Democrat party simply hates him more, and they always will. We can only pray that Trump won’t share Lincoln’s tragic fate — our country has still not recovered from the effects of that first assassination of a Republican president who dreamed of unity and peace.
