A 54-year-old man died after being stabbed late Sunday night, according to the Yuma Police Department.

At about 11:01 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Avenue A in response to a disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a man, later identified as 33-year-old Mauricio Robles, with blood on his hands, police said.

Robles quickly retreated into an apartment, where he barricaded himself and claimed to be armed, police added.

Additional officers located the unresponsive victim, who had sustained stab wounds. For safety reasons, officers removed him from the apartment and immediately began life-saving measures.

However, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Robles reportedly exited through the rear of the apartment but failed to comply with officers’ commands. A Taser was deployed, and Robles was taken into custody.

Police arrested and booked Robles on multiple felony charges, including first-degree murder.
