Kununu, an employer portal, has released a new salary ranking for Berlin, showing the top 10 companies offering the highest salaries. The ranking is based on median salaries from employee data and considers only companies with at least 50 data points. The median is used to reduce the impact of outliers compared to the mean.
Key Findings
Large corporations from the tech, pharmaceutical, and energy sectors dominate the top 10. However, the ranking is dynamic, with some companies showing significant changes in their position compared to last year. For example, SAP dropped from 2nd to 13th place, while Charité fell from 10th to 113th. The ranking does not consider factors like work atmosphere, equality, or work-life balance, highlighting that high salaries don't necessarily mean a 'good' employer.

The list includes DB Systel GmbH, the digital subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn (German Railways), which shows in the top 10 of highest paying companies.
Weil die Miete in Berlin schon lange nicht mehr nur von Sinn und Liebe zum Job bezahlt werden kann, lohnt sich ein Blick in die neue Gehaltsrangliste: Das Arbeitgeberportal Kununu hat für den Tagesspiegel wieder ausgewertet, welche Unternehmen in der Hauptstadt am meisten zahlen. Grundlage sind freiwillige und anonyme Gehaltsangaben von Mitarbeitenden, berechnet wird jeweils der Median – vorausgesetzt das Unternehmen hat mindestens 50 Angaben.
Die statistische Größe Median ist weniger anfällig für Ausreißer, also extreme Werte, als das arithmetische Mittel (Durchschnitt). Der Median ist daher ein geeigneter Indikator, um das „typische“ Gehaltsniveau in einem Unternehmen darzustellen.
In den aktuellen Top Ten dominieren große Konzerne aus Tech, Pharma und Energie. Zugleich zeigt sich, wie stark der Vergleich in Bewegung ist: SAP etwa rutscht von Platz zwei im letzten Jahr auf Platz 13, die Charité sogar von Platz zehn auf Rang 113. Was das Ranking nicht abbildet: Arbeitsatmosphäre, Gleichberechtigung oder Vereinbarkeit. Wer gut zahlt, muss deshalb per se kein „guter“ Arbeitgeber sein.
