Apollo Children's Hospital has established a state-of-the-art center dedicated to providing specialized orthopedic and trauma care for children. The facility will treat children with injuries from sports or complex congenital conditions such as clubfoot and hip dysplasia.
A multidisciplinary team, including trauma specialists, orthopedic surgeons, and a rehabilitation team, will be available. The team specializes in various pediatric orthopedic conditions, from developmental disorders and limb deformities to neuromuscular issues, infections, tumors, and spinal deformities. The center utilizes advanced surgical technologies.
The facility features a child-friendly design, including recovery rooms with interactive walls and entertainment systems, and physical therapy areas with play-like rehabilitation equipment. Emergency trauma services follow protocols designed specifically for pediatric cases. Additional specialists, such as plastic surgeons and vascular specialists, are also part of the team to handle complex cases.
The center has the capacity to handle up to 140 procedures per month. The overall goal is not only to treat injuries and deformities but to ensure each child returns to an active and confident life.

A hospital release said that doctors were seeing complex cases besides congenital conditions such as clubfoot and hip dysplasia requiring surgical attention.
The team specialises in treating paediatric orthopaedic conditions such as developmental disorders, limb deformities, neuromuscular issues, injuries, infections, tumours, besides congenital spinal deformities and abnormalities in gait.
R. Sankar, senior consultant paediatric orthopaedic and spine surgeon at the hospital said, “Our goal is not only to treat injuries or deformities, but also to ensure that every child returns to a life of activity, movement, and confidence. With access to advanced surgical technologies and a multidisciplinary team, we are equipped to handle everything from routine sports injuries to the most complex orthopaedic challenges in children.”
The chief executive officer of Apollo Hospitals, Chennai region, Ilankumaran Kaliamoorthy said that the facility had integrated medical care with child-friendly design, recovery rooms with interactive walls and entertainment systems, physical therapy areas with rehabilitation equipment that feel more like play than work.
The centre can handle up to 140 procedures a month.
