Project Overview

The author describes their custom mechanical keyboard build, creatively named "Suger80" or "Mr. Tiger." This build repurposes a Mr. Suit PCB, utilizing its compatibility with the Tiger80 Lite case.

Components and Modifications

The build utilizes several key components:

  • A C3 Unified daughterboard with JST connector
  • Plate foam
  • Initially, a Tiger80 Polycarbonate plate, later replaced
  • KBDFans Tiger 80 Gaskets

A Hyperboring FR4 plate from Taobao was substituted for the Polycarbonate plate to achieve a different sound profile and accommodate stepped caps keys.

Compatibility and Future Updates

The author notes that several F13 TKL PCBs are compatible with the Tiger80 case, provided they support non-proprietary daughterboards. A sound test of the finished build is promised in a future update.

So I already own a Mr. Suit so I had a spare PCB for it so I decided to put it to good use once I found out that the PCB fit in the case no problem.

So what I did was I ordered some of the necessary parts to put the build together: - A C3 Unified daughterboard w/ JST Connector - Plate foam - A Tiger80 Polycarbonate Plate - Some KBDFans Tiger 80 Gaskets

Then because I wanted a different sound signature and a stepped caps key (because the PC plate doesn't have a cutout for it), I swapped out the Polycarbonate plate for a Hyperboring FR4 plate from Taobao.

The result is this "Suger 80" or "Mr. Tiger", whatever you wanna call it haha. A few F13 TKL PCBs should fit in the Tiger80 just fine so long as they support using a non-proprietary daughterboard.

I'll upload a sound test of this finished build and comment it down here once it's ready.
