Cutterman's Variety Store Closure

Cutterman's Variety Store in Stockton Springs, Maine, closed its doors after less than a year in business. The owners, Nathan Nole and his associates, announced the closure on Facebook, citing an inability to reach a new lease agreement with the property owner. The store, which had previously been known as Perry's Store, offered a variety of food items, including pizzas, sandwiches, and seafood.

Reasons for Closure

The owners' Facebook post stated that despite their best efforts in negotiations, they were unable to resolve the lease issue with the landlord. This prevented them from continuing operations.

Community Impact

The closure has been met with disappointment from community members, who expressed their support for the business and its owners on social media. The owners expressed their hope for a thriving business to occupy the space in the future and stated that they had even connected potential new owners with the property.

A Stockton Springs general store has closed down less than a year after it opened with new owners.

The owners of Cutterman’s Variety Story closed their doors on Sunday after being unable to reach a new agreement with their landlords.

“Today marks a bittersweet day for Cutterman’s Variety as it will be our last day in business,” the owners said on Facebook. “Unfortunately, despite our best efforts in negotiations with the property owner, we were unable to reach a resolution.”

Nathan Nole, who has served in the U.S. Coast Guard, opened the business last June, with a name that refers to the people who operate the service’s cutter vessels, according to the Midcoast Villager. The space was previously known as Perry’s Store.

The store frequently promoted its pizzas, sandwiches, French fries, seafood and other offerings on social media. Some area residents responded to the announcement of the closure to share their dismay and support for the business.

“We want to express our deep love for this community — we are your neighbors, and we truly hope to see a thriving store here in the future,” the owners said. “To that end, we’ve even connected potential new owners with the property.”

Representatives of Cutterman’s could not be reached for comment.
