A tragic incident occurred during the construction of a railway underpass in Umargam, Valsad district, Gujarat, India on April 6, 2025. Thirteen workers were excavating earth when a passing train caused the soil to collapse, trapping two workers, Sanjay Ravate and Sachin Junar.
Local people and fellow workers initiated rescue efforts and called for an ambulance. Both injured workers were taken to a nearby hospital, where Sanjay Ravate was declared dead. Sachin Junar was transferred to Valsad Civil Hospital for further treatment.
Umargam police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it to Gandhiwadi Government Hospital for post-mortem. A case of accidental death has been registered based on a complaint by Sanjay Lilka, and an investigation is underway.

ઘટના સમયે રેલવે ટ્રેકના થાંભલા નંબર 147/5થી 147/7 વચ્ચે અંડરપાસનું બાંધકામ ચાલી રહ્યું હતું. અન્નપૂર્ણા PET પ્રા. લિમિટેડની પાછળના ભાગે હુમરણ ખાતે કુલ 13 શ્રમિકો માટી ખોદકામનું કામ કરી રહ્યા હતા. આ દરમિયાન વાપીથી મુંબઈ તરફ જતી ટ્રેન પસાર થઈ, જેના કંપનથી ઉપરની માટી ધસી પડી હતી.
માટી ધસી પડવાથી સંજયભાઈ સુરેશભાઈ રાવતે અને સચીન બારક્યા જુનર નામના બે શ્રમિકો દટાઈ ગયા હતા. સ્થાનિક લોકો અને અન્ય શ્રમિકોએ તાત્કાલિક બચાવ કામગીરી શરૂ કરી અને 108 એમ્બ્યુલન્સને જાણ કરી. બંને શ્રમિકોને નજીકની સરકારી હોસ્પિટલમાં ખસેડવામાં આવ્યા, જ્યાં સંજયભાઈ રાવતેને મૃત જાહેર કરવામાં આવ્યા. સચીનને વધુ સારવાર માટે વલસાડ સિવિલ હોસ્પિટલમાં ખસેડવામાં આવ્યો છે. ઉમરગામ પોલીસે ઘટના સ્થળે પહોંચી મૃતદેહનો કબજો લઈ પોસ્ટમોર્ટમ માટે ગાંધીવાડી સરકારી હોસ્પિટલમાં મોકલ્યો છે. સંજય લીલકાની ફરિયાદના આધારે પોલીસે અકસ્માતનો કેસ નોંધી વધુ તપાસ શરૂ કરી છે.
