A witness who recorded a large caravan fire in Dundee has told of the moment he saw “multiple explosions”.

Smoke from the blaze could be seen across Dundee and as far away as Tentsmuir in Fife.

Police and firefighters attended the fire, which took an hour to extinguish.

Lewis’ footage, at the top of this article, shows flames and smoke from a neighbouring garden.

He told The Courier: “I smelt smoke at around 7.30pm and then looked out my window.

“Immediately I saw thick black smoke and called ‘999’.

“This was at 7.34pm.”

He continued: “I have no idea when the fire started but I would have said it must have been going for about 10 minutes before I smelled it.

“Firefighters arrived fairly quickly, maybe around 7.40pm-ish.

“It was a caravan and there were multiple explosions.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said there had been “multiple reports of fire in the area.”

She added: “It was a caravan that was well alight in a garden on Longtown Place.

“One pump was in attendance from Kingsway with two hosereel jets, one thermal imaging camera and one muckhawk.

“Police were also in attendance

“Firefighters left the scene at 8.42pm.

“No injuries have been reported.”
