A significant caravan fire occurred in Longtown Place, Mid Craigie, Dundee on Thursday evening. The incident involved multiple explosions, as reported by a witness, Lewis Quinn, who captured the event on video.
Quinn reported smelling smoke around 7:30 pm and subsequently witnessed thick black smoke, immediately calling emergency services at 7:34 pm. He estimated the fire had been burning for approximately 10 minutes before he noticed it. Firefighters arrived shortly after and extinguished the blaze.
The smoke from the fire was visible from various locations across Dundee and even reached as far as Tentsmuir in Fife, several miles away. Multiple images show the extent of the smoke plume.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service received multiple reports of the fire and responded with one pump, utilizing two hosereel jets, a thermal imaging camera, and a muckhawk. Police were also present. The fire was extinguished by 8:42 pm, and no injuries were reported.

Smoke from the blaze could be seen across Dundee and as far away as Tentsmuir in Fife.
Police and firefighters attended the fire, which took an hour to extinguish.
Lewisâ footage, at the top of this article, shows flames and smoke from a neighbouring garden.
He told The Courier: âI smelt smoke at around 7.30pm and then looked out my window.
âImmediately I saw thick black smoke and called â999â.
âThis was at 7.34pm.â
He continued: âI have no idea when the fire started but I would have said it must have been going for about 10 minutes before I smelled it.
âFirefighters arrived fairly quickly, maybe around 7.40pm-ish.
âIt was a caravan and there were multiple explosions.â
Photos taken miles from the scene showed billowing white smoke in the sky above the eastern side of Dundee.
The Courierâs reporter Finn Nixon captured this shot, while the fire was burning, from the Tentsmuir area in Fife.
He said at around 8pm: âItâs whiter smoke now, but looked quite bad for a while and was going quite high.
âIâm at least three miles away and the smoke was very visible.â
Another photo illustrated the scene from the streets near the bottom of the Law.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said there had been âmultiple reports of fire in the area.â
She added: âIt was a caravan that was well alight in a garden on Longtown Place.
âOne pump was in attendance from Kingsway with two hosereel jets, one thermal imaging camera and one muckhawk.
âPolice were also in attendance
âFirefighters left the scene at 8.42pm.
âNo injuries have been reported.â
