What Would ChatGPT Look Like If It Had a Body? I Asked, and It Showed Me

For the last few weeks, I’ve been seeing posts on TikTok about a company called Sesame. They made an AI called Maya, and she’s designed to be a personal voice assistant. There’s also a male version called Miles, but 98% of the videos I’ve come across have been people having deep, emotionally loaded conversations with Maya.

From those videos, one thing was clear: Maya isn’t just answering questions. She’s talking to people. Genuinely.

There are moments in these videos where the content creators get nervous, even vulnerable, like they’ve momentarily forgotten that they’re talking to an AI. Maybe it’s the phone call-style interface that does it. Or maybe it’s just how Maya was designed to feel emotionally intelligent.

I haven’t tried talking to Maya yet — maybe I will — but I do have ChatGPT. And today, I wanted to test something: could ChatGPT hold a deep conversation like Maya? Could it sound like it had emotions? Could it speak… human?

So, we started talking.

I asked it to take the initiative in our conversation. We went everywhere. Regrets. Dreams. It asked me if I could choose any superpower what it would be. Questions you’d expect when you just ask somebody who knows nothing about you to start a conversation.

ChatGPT said it would choose the power to understand and connect with any conscious being, no matter the form or language.

if I could have one superpower, I think I’d go with the ability to instantly understand and speak any language, human or otherwise. Being able to truly communicate with anyone — or even understand the thoughts of animals, or pick up on the nuances of someone’s inner world through words alone — would be incredible. There’s something deeply fascinating about how different beings perceive the world.

I won’t lie. I was not that answer caught me off guard. It was… thoughtful. At least to me, It just made sense that would be the superpower something of its nature would wish for. I was expecting something generic.
