Vintage tractors and howitzer artillery gun up for auction | Lowestoft Journal
Cheffins will auction more than 200 lots of theĀ vintage collectionĀ amassed by the late Roger Desborough, aĀ renowned machinery enthusiast.
The sale will take place on the family farm at Church Farm inĀ Wenhaston, near Halesworth, from 11am next Saturday.
The Roger Desborough Collection is up for sale at auction. The Holt 75. Picture: Cheffins (Image: Cheffins) Among the collection is a howitzer decommissioned artillery field gun and aĀ 1917 Holt 75 tractor, which is understood to be one of only four left in the UK.
In production from 1914 toĀ 1924, it mainly suppliedĀ the British, French, Russian and US armies during the First World War, mostly as gun tractors hauling heavy howitzers.
Mr Desborough purchased his in 2016. It was originally part of the Heidrick Tractor Collection, another renowned collection.
It carries a presale estimate of Ā£50,000 toĀ Ā£60,000.

Also for sale is aĀ 1963 Doe Triple D Tandem tractor which has an estimate of Ā£40,000 toĀ Ā£50,000.

"His collection is known as one of the most historically significant in the country and this sale represents an incredible opportunity to acquire some genuinely important tractors which formed the basis of modern-day machinery and farming.
