A person was killed Friday in the Loris area after an encounter with a non-domesticated animal.
Horry County Police reported that the incident happened off of Highway 746 between the person and the animal in the animal’s enclosure, according to a Facebook post from HCPD. The person was an adult relative of the animal’s owner, the post said.
The post did not say what type of animal was involved, but did say that the animal is secured. Additional details about the incident have not been released.
The Horry County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and an autopsy has been ordered, the post said.
The name of the person has not been released.
There is no risk to the community, police said.
