Owning an oceanfront home can be a dream for those who spend their summer vacations at the beach.

Having property with access to the water 24-7 without booking an Airbnb or hotel room sounds pretty nice, and surprisingly affordable, depending on where you choose to buy.

The interior decorating magazine House Beautiful listed its “Top 20 Most Affordable Beach Towns” in the U.S. – some with homes that average as low as $215,000.

Myrtle Beach made the publication’s ranking, coming in at No. 4 with an average price for a home at $300,720.

While that price may not get you an oceanfront home, as many beachfront homes average between $400,000 to $1 million or more, the Grand Strand, which includes 60 miles of beaches and many communities, offers a number of different properties that are not far from several great beaches.

The magazine’s list is mostly dominated by Florida cities, with exception of Atlantic City, New Jersey, which came in at No. 1 with an average home price of $215,336.

Myrtle Beach has become a top relocation spot for residents from New Jersey, New York and Florida. Many of these transplants cite the cheaper home prices as a reason for coming to the coastal city.
