Britain is actively advising Ukraine on its peace negotiations with the US, with Jonathan Powell, Sir Keir Starmer’s national security advisor, briefing President Zelensky before talks. The UK is also working to persuade Donald Trump to reinstate intelligence sharing with Ukraine, following a suspension.
Zelensky reported hundreds of Russian attacks in the past week, involving various weapons. He emphasized the need for continued support from partners, including air defense systems and stronger sanctions against Russia.
Trump claimed his administration had “just about” lifted the intelligence sharing pause and is considering new tariffs on Russia. He also speculated that Ukraine might not survive the war even with American support.
Starmer spoke to Macron and Rutte about resuming intelligence sharing with Kyiv. A "coalition of the willing," including Australia, Canada, Turkey and Norway, is being assembled, potentially for peacekeeping efforts if peace talks succeed. Discussions are ongoing between Ukrainian and US officials, with the participation of Saudi Arabia.
