Carolyn Meade, a Yuma County high school senior, was awarded a $5,000 Addison Auza Scholarship at the Yuma County Fair. The scholarship, funded by David and Jill Auza, honors their daughter Addison, who passed away in 2018. The scholarship program has awarded over $240,000 to students since its inception.
The Addison Auza Scholarship recognizes students who exemplify traits like humility, kindness, generosity, and hard work, characteristics that defined Addison. This year, additional scholarships were also awarded to James Brody Glenn ($3,000) and Alaina Jaime ($2,000).
Other scholarship recipients at the Yuma County Fair included Tanner Loghry, Brayden Loghry, Cienna Kelly, Samantha Luna, Faith Voorhies, and Logan Bathrick.
The Auza family has raised over $560,000 to support the scholarship fund, demonstrating their commitment to supporting future generations in agriculture and related fields.
