Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated 400 electric buses as part of the Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector (DEVi) scheme, previously known as 'Mohalla buses'. This initiative aims to address last-mile connectivity challenges in the city, providing eco-friendly transportation between metro stations and bus terminals.
An additional 2,080 electric buses are scheduled to join the fleet by the end of the year. The initial 400 buses will operate in east and west Delhi, covering areas such as Ghazipur, Vinod Nagar East, and Nangloi, across 146 selected routes.
Commuters expressed optimism, particularly regarding the extended service hours until midnight. Each DEVi bus has 23 seats (six reserved for women) and a standing capacity of 13 passengers. Fares will range from ₹10 to ₹25.
