The Indian National Congress party has announced its candidates for the upcoming by-elections in Sira and Rajarajeshwarinagar Assembly constituencies in Karnataka, scheduled for November 3rd, 2020. Veteran leader and former Minister T.B. Jayachandra will contest in Sira, while Kusuma H., wife of the late IAS officer D.K. Ravi, will contest in Rajarajeshwarinagar. Ramesh Babu, a former MLC, will contest for the South East Graduates Constituency of the Legislative Council.
Kusuma H.'s candidacy is expected to attract women and young voters. She is a postgraduate in engineering and a former lecturer. This election is expected to be a direct contest between the BJP and Congress.
In Sira, T.B. Jayachandra, a veteran politician with a long career, is aiming to reclaim the seat he lost in 2018. This by-election is a result of the death of the sitting JD(S) MLA. A three-way contest is anticipated in this constituency.
