BlackCarrot, a direct-to-consumer (D2C) dinnerware brand founded by Yadupati and Vishal Gupta, has raised an undisclosed amount in seed funding. The round was led by We Founder Circle, with participation from EvolveX accelerator and Suraj Nalin of PlaySimple Games. The company plans to utilize the funding for product development and expanding its presence across various marketplaces, including Tata CliQ Luxury, Myntra, Amazon, and Ajio.
BlackCarrot, a government-recognized startup, offers a range of dinnerware including stoneware, glassware, and stainless-steel cutlery. The company boasts over 90 SKUs and highlights its use of healthier materials, such as Bone China-free crockery, 304 food-grade stainless steel cutlery, and lead-free glasses. It competes with brands such as Nestasia, Pepperfry, Borosil, and IKEA. In addition to online sales, BlackCarrot has entered the offline market through Nature's Basket stores.
The founders aim to launch over 100 new SKUs in the next 60 days and expand into major offline retail chains across India. The company also recently welcomed Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia as a brand ambassador and equity partner, following a similar investment from Agnello Dias of Taproot Dentsu.
