The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) chief in Kenya, Amin, has assured Kenyans of heightened security measures during the Easter holiday, with law enforcement agencies on high alert to maintain peace and safety across the country, particularly in Mombasa County. He stated that security arrangements have been reviewed, and officers are well-prepared.
Amin addressed concerns about the former Deputy President's security, stating that any security threats should be reported directly to the police, rather than through the media. He also noted that the matter of VIP security has already been addressed by the Inspector-General of Police. Amin's visit to Mombasa involved assessing security preparedness across the Coast region.
Authorities are also intensifying their crackdown on drugs and psychotropic substances. Significant progress has been made in the Likoni murder case, with two suspects arrested. Investigations are ongoing into reported organ harvesting and missing persons cases, with some cases attributed to personal issues.
The DCI chief urged the media to focus on accurate and constructive reporting, warning against exaggerated portrayals of insecurity, which could negatively impact investor confidence.
