Construction has started on the largest and most modern vehicle repair shop in Extremadura, located in Mérida's El Prado Industrial Park. The project is led by Hydraplan, a Portuguese company and official MAN service provider.
Hydraplan, established in Mérida since 2015, has expanded significantly, growing from nine to twenty employees. This expansion necessitated the purchase of the Monteoro warehouse to accommodate their increased activity.
The new workshop will cover over 10,000 square meters, featuring a nearly 4,000-square-meter building with 15 access points. The project is expected to be operational by the end of next year.
The mayor of Mérida welcomed the investment, highlighting its positive impact on the city's logistics sector. Hydraplan's work with major Spanish transport companies further strengthens Mérida's position in this sector.
Hydraplan is 90% Portuguese-owned and 10% Spanish. Its Portuguese owners are part of a group of companies distributing the MAN brand in southern Portugal, also representing Volkswagen Commercial and Mazda. They also operate a workshop for repairing Lisbon's city buses.
Mérida's El Prado industrial park has become a hub for transport and logistics companies, attracting related businesses such as truck repair, specialized tire sales, and fuel distribution.
