Brazilian congressman Glauber Braga (PSOL-RJ) has begun a hunger strike to protest the advancement of his cassation process. He is receiving daily visits from volunteer doctors who will monitor his health.
Medical examinations are scheduled for him, following an initial checkup on the second day where his blood pressure was found to be normal. To minimize stress, he has chosen to refrain from giving interviews and will have others speak on his behalf.
His 3-year-old son visited him on the second day of his hunger strike, and periodic visits are planned.
Glauber Braga has been sleeping on the floor and consuming only isotonic drinks and water.
His wife, fellow congresswoman Sâmia Bomfim (PSOL-SP), was not initially informed of the hunger strike, and would have tried to dissuade him.
