The first students have graduated from Jyväskylä Lyceum's IT (information technology) line, which began in 2022. The program included standard high school coursework plus university-level computer science courses.
Mikael Etula, 18, was among the first graduates. Initially considering vocational school, he was steered towards the IT line by his guidance counselor. He found the high school experience busy but rewarding, particularly enjoying the group work aspect. He did not find the university-level courses overly difficult due to their foundational approach.
Etula's interest in IT started in primary school, and he now dreams of starting his own cybersecurity company.
