The Panamanian National Assembly's 2024 payroll totaled $89.8 million, a slight decrease from 2023 but still surpassing the combined spending of the Ministry of Economy ($42 million), Public Works ($20 million), and the Environment Ministry ($29.9 million).
The Assembly employed 4,783 officials in 2024, down from 6,081 in 2023. As of January 2025, the number had further decreased to 3,038, with a monthly payroll of $5.8 million and an average salary of $1,911.
The Comptroller General's office is currently auditing the Assembly's payroll and has begun paying salaries by check to detect potential irregularities.
