Cole Welliver, a former UConn quarterback, has committed to New Mexico. He played in only one game for UConn, completing 2 of 4 passes for 10 yards in their victory over Merrimack.
Welliver, a 6-foot-7 quarterback from Texas, played for Jason Witten at Liberty Christian High School. His senior year saw a perfect 14-0 record, earning him First Team All-State and District MVP honors and a three-star ranking from 247Sports.
At New Mexico, Welliver will work with Adam Behrends, former Staples High head coach in Westport, Connecticut, who joined New Mexico's coaching staff as an offensive analyst in February. Behrends led Staples to a state title in 2023.
