McCann New York announced a restructuring eliminating the roles of Chief Creative Officer (CCO) Shayne Millington and Head of Growth Suresh Raj. Millington, a nine-year veteran of the agency and 2024 ADWEEK Agency All-Star Creative of the Year, will depart in mid-May. Raj's departure is scheduled for the end of April.
The memo cited a need to consolidate leadership under regional executives and prioritize roles directly involved in creative and strategic work, aiming for a simplified structure to reduce layers of management. The changes are also seen in the context of ongoing business challenges, including recent high-profile client losses like Verizon and MGM Resorts.
Britt Nolan, who joined McCann in January from Leo Burnett, will oversee creative operations for North America. Michelle Tang, McCann Worldgroup's North America chief growth officer, will take on Raj's responsibilities, returning to lead the New York growth team.
This leadership shakeup occurs as IPG prepares for its proposed merger with Omnicom, a deal projected to generate $750 million in annual cost savings through operational consolidations and reductions in overlapping positions.
