Former Costa Rican Minister Luis Amador is considering running for president in the 2026 elections under the Progreso Social Democrático (PSD) party.
Amador is in talks with PSD, the party that propelled Rodrigo Chaves to the presidency, although these conversations are still ongoing and haven't concluded. Discussions include national issues like social security system improvements, bilingual education, rural development and tackling Costa Rica's rising insecurity.
The PSD is headed by deputy Luz Mary AlpÃzar, who operates independently from the current government's direction.
Amador remains hopeful that the party shares his concerns and aspirations.
