Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's rally in Bisara, Greater Noida, saw the presence of key accused in the 2015 lynching of Mohammad Akhlaq. Adityanath criticized the Samajwadi Party government for its handling of the incident. He also highlighted the BJP's actions against illegal slaughterhouses after coming to power.
Vishal Singh Rana, a key accused in the lynching, and others were present at the rally, openly supporting the BJP. Rana and Puneet, charged under various IPC sections, including murder, were granted bail in 2017. The case is still pending, with the next hearing scheduled for April 10.
Akhlaq's family, having left Bisara after the incident, criticized the slow pace of the fast-track court handling the case, expressing frustration at the accused roaming free.
Adityanath also attacked previous governments, accusing them of appeasement politics and being soft on terrorism, contrasting it with the BJP's approach. He criticized Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for not visiting the Ramjanmabhoomi site. The speech also included broader comments on law and order, development, and the upcoming elections.
A report by the Chief Veterinary Officer of UP indicated that the meat sample recovered from Akhlaq's house was goat, not beef. A separate FIR against Akhlaq's family for alleged cow slaughter is pending investigation.
