Oziel Inácio-Stech, a 43-year-old gay elementary school teacher in Berlin, experienced severe mobbing and threats from his students after disclosing his homosexuality. The majority of his students were from Muslim backgrounds.
The abuse included verbal insults, threats, and even a threat with a pistol replica. The school administration, despite multiple reports, remained largely inactive.
Despite documented incidents and pleas for help, the school administration largely failed to act. One student's father allegedly had ties to the Abou-Chaker clan, known for its criminal activities, which may have influenced the inaction.
The teacher was later falsely accused of violating his duty of care, a case that was eventually dropped. His request for rehabilitation from the school administration has been met with inaction and inadequate responses from Berlin's education minister, Katharina GĂĽnther-WĂĽnsch.
Inácio-Stech now suffers from PTSD and is considering legal action to clear his name and receive a formal apology from the school. The incident has shaken his belief in Germany as a perfect country and highlighted a significant failure in the German education system to protect LGBTQ+ teachers.
