Key Events

Following the Pahalgam terror attack in India, the Indian armed forces launched "Operation Sindoor," carrying out missile strikes on alleged terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Pakistan reported casualties and damage to mosques and civilian infrastructure. The Pakistani Army spokesman detailed the strikes, specifying locations and casualties.

Pakistan's Response

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif termed the strikes an "act of war" and vowed a "befitting reply." The Pakistani government summoned a National Security Council meeting and closed its airspace for 48 hours.

Pakistani officials, including the Foreign Minister and Defence Minister, condemned the strikes as violations of sovereignty and international law, promising a forceful response, both kinetic and diplomatic.

India's Actions

India justified the strikes as retaliation for the Pahalgam attack. Prime Minister Narendra Modi granted the armed forces complete operational freedom to determine the response.

Prior to the strikes, India had already implemented punitive measures against Pakistan, including suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and downgrading diplomatic ties.
