Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Thailand on April 3, 2025, to attend the sixth BIMSTEC Summit. He was welcomed by Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit.
The visit focused on strengthening India-Thailand relations and advancing cooperation within the BIMSTEC framework, emphasizing trade and connectivity.
Mr. Modi met with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra to further enhance the existing strong ties between the two nations.
Following his time in Thailand, Mr. Modi embarked on a two-day visit to Sri Lanka on April 4, 2025, his first since the election of President Anura Kumara Disanayake. This visit aimed to review the progress of joint projects and strengthen bilateral relations, building on President Ranil Wickremesinghe's visit to India in December.
The overall objective of both visits was to strengthen existing relationships and foster cooperation for mutual benefit.
