Understaffed Registry Office

The Schnaitsee registry office, facing understaffing and increasing complexity in handling marriages involving foreign nationals, is transferring its responsibilities to Trostberg. This decision, approved unanimously by the Schnaitsee council, is set to take effect January 1, 2026.

Financial Savings

The mayor, Thomas Schmidinger, highlighted the financial benefits, estimating annual savings in the mid five-figure range due to Trostberg’s more efficient operations. Trostberg already manages similar services for larger neighboring communities.

Continued Services in Schnaitsee

While the administrative tasks will be handled by Trostberg, the actual marriage ceremonies will continue to take place in Schnaitsee. Couples can submit their paperwork in Schnaitsee, and the wedding ceremony will be performed locally.

Reasons for Transfer

  • Understaffing: The registry office currently operates with two employees, making it difficult to manage workload.
  • Increasing Complexity: A rise in international marriages adds significant bureaucratic burdens.
  • Cost Savings: The transfer is expected to result in substantial cost savings for the municipality.
