Tahawwur Rana, a Pakistani-Canadian citizen, is being extradited from the United States to India to face charges related to his involvement in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. A joint team from India's NIA and RAW is escorting him back to India on a special flight.
Rana's attempts to prevent his extradition were rejected by the US Supreme Court. He argued he would face torture in India due to his Parkinson's disease. The US government provided evidence, including emails and documents, to prove his role in assisting David Headley, the mastermind behind the attacks.
Rana, a former doctor in the Pakistani army, became an immigration consultant in Canada and then the US. He was arrested in 2009 by the FBI and sentenced to 14 years in prison in the US for supporting Lashkar-e-Taiba.
