The Valladolid city hall registry, after a two-year stint in a temporary location, has returned to its renovated premises. However, the CCOO union is urging the city council to improve security. They cite a July incident where a man attempted to enter the temporary location with a concealed weapon, highlighting the need for enhanced measures.
The union specifically requests the installation of security arches and scanners at the entrances. They point out that the temporary location in San Benito had such security measures in place. Currently, the city hall relies on municipal police and private security, but the union believes this is insufficient, especially given the high volume of citizens using the service (109,961 requests during the temporary period).
The registry's return to the city hall was not without controversy, with the opposition criticizing the reuse of existing furniture. The ruling party defended the reuse, citing the furniture's continued viability and cost savings.
