Jayne Hrdlicka, formerly the CEO of Virgin Australia, has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of Endeavour Group, the parent company of the prominent Australian liquor chains Dan Murphy's and BWS. Her tenure will commence on January 1, 2024.
Hrdlicka's experience includes consulting for Woolworths on their early liquor strategy and serving on the Woolworths Group Board. In the announcement, she expressed enthusiasm about working with Endeavour Group's 30,000 employees and the opportunities ahead for the company.
Ari Mervis, the current executive chairman, will retain his position until Hrdlicka assumes her new role.
Former Virgin chief executive Jayne Hrdlicka will become the new boss of Endeavour, which operates bottle shop chains Dan Murphy’s and BWS.
Hrdlicka will start in her new role on January 1 next year, with executive chairman Ari Mervis continuing in his role until then, the company said in a statement to the ASX on Tuesday morning.
“I have a long history with Endeavour’s retail and hotel businesses, initially as a consultant to Woolworths, including on their early liquor strategy, and then as a Woolworths Group Board member.
“Endeavour Group has much to play for,” Hrdlicka said in the announcement, adding she was looking forward to work with the company’s more than 30,000 employees.
