Investigation Findings

The Central Operative Unit (UCO) of the Spanish Civil Guard found no relevant information in data received from Ireland and the United States regarding Attorney General Álvaro García Ortiz's emails and WhatsApp messages. The investigation concerns allegations of revealing secrets related to Isabel Díaz Ayuso's boyfriend.

Data Analysis

Data from Ireland (Google data) revealed no new emails of interest. Similarly, information from the United States (WhatsApp data) contained no new relevant information. The UCO was unable to recover messages from one of the Attorney General's numbers, and there was no data confirming a WhatsApp account on another number.

Of 159 emails located in data from Ireland, only one previously obtained email, sent by the Madrid Provincial Prosecutor on March 13, 2024, was relevant. Other emails sent that day were not found.

Judge's Decision

The judge, having found no relevant data, lifted the secrecy order on the proceedings related to the rogatory commissions, allowing parties to access the Civil Guard's report.

  • The investigation focuses on alleged leaks related to a tax fraud case.
  • The judge initially believed the data request was successful but ultimately, the UCO found otherwise.
