Police have shot an armed woman after a confrontation in Mulgrave.
The shooting, which occurred about 5.30am on Police Road near Springvale Road, will be investigated by detectives from the armed crime squad.
The 29-year-old woman has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to her upper body.
A police statement said the woman was armed in a car that had been allegedly evading police when it was intercepted. After a confrontation, the woman was shot.
A 27-year-old Noble Park man was also arrested at the scene.
An investigation into the matter is under way with oversight by the professional standards command, as is standard practice when a police firearm is discharged.
